DSIS Principal

At DSIS we are committed to creating an alternative educational opportunity for our school community.  This includes an independent studies program, home-school program, as well as hybrid courses. Always putting the varying needs of our students first allows us to utilize the different programs at our site to achieve academic success.

Welcome from Principal Rob Kinder

The 2017-18 school year is an exciting one at DSIS! I am proud to be our first full-time principal and I look forward to being onsite daily! We have several new staff members who bring their own brand of innovative educational experiences and we have our dedicated team of DSIS veterans that offer our students a fantastic variety of courses and pedagogies.

This year, we are implementing a new “Learning Management System” called Schoology. We will implement it slowly in phases with the ultimate goal of offering a “one-stop-shop” for students, parents and teachers to access and submit school work, see grades and assignment comments, message staff, and more. This tool will also be used as a platform to offer more “blended courses” such as English 9,10, 11 & 12, World & US History, Government & Econ, as well as all Math, Science and Art courses. It is our hope that moving to more modern educational platform that aligns with what colleges and universities are using, our students will be better prepared for the future. Trainings and workshops will be offered to all shareholders as we progress.

I look forward to getting to know our students and families. I am here to support the wonderful work that is happening at our school. DSIS is a special place that nurtures the needs of individual students and families, and I am thrilled to be a part of it’s future.
